When I try to use Kinternet or KPPP....they say that they cannot find modem....or something to that effect...
You say that "installation correctly identified it [the modem]" So why are you trying to install it again using YAST2? If it's already installed then all you need to do - if you just MUST do something - is to EDIT the modem's settings; and this is done in the bottom part of the menu which comes up when you use YAST2. It seems to me that you are trying to install an already installed modem and Yast2 can't do it because the modem is active and cannot be accessed/recognised by Yast2. BTW, have you assigned the correct dev to the modem? (eg, dev/ttyS0 or /dev/ttyS1 et alia). When yo first installed then the correct dev was assigned to it but if you start fiddling then you must know and use the correct dev port for the modem. For example, if you start using kppp then it is up to you to tell kppp which dev port your modem is connected to otherwise you will get the message along the lines of "modem cannot be accessed".
