I'm not expert, but I'll give this a try....
Ok, are you using SuSE 8.0 as both the server and as the client? Or is the
client on a second machine? (Basically, I'm trying to determine if the
client environment changed or if it was just the server that changed.)
Which IMAP server are you using? The Washington University or the Cyrus
(Carnegie Mellon University) version?
Have you changed filesystem types when you installed SuSE? (I think that
RedHat uses ext2 (or ext3?) by default, and SuSE typically will use ReiserFS
by default). When I installed my Cyrus IMAP server, I remember reading
about some special steps for the ext2fs and I think it had something to do
with setting extended attributes which I think was used for file locks.
(there are a number of "i think"s in there...I could be way off here..., but
it might be something to look into.)
Have you compared you old configuration files to you new ones? Is there any
options for mailbox/folder locking?
Its possible that the two distros compiled the IMAP server with different
options, or applied special patches. You may want to install the source
rpms and look at the .spec files for different configuration options.
Hope that helps, let me know how it turns out,
Lowell Alleman
