suse 8.0 on a dell poweredge 6450

I'm having problems installing 8.0 on a dell poweredge 6450. The system
has an adaptec 7490 scsi card and a megaraid raid controller. The
controller has 3 disks attached, 2 of them mirrored, 1 standalone.

I have suse 8.0 rpms on a an nfs server and I've put the boot iso onto a
cd. If I boot from the CD, using the default option, the system begins
probing, finds it needs the adaptec module and the megaraid module (and
some usb modules). Then it hangs. On virtual terminal 4 I get lots of
scsi aborts.

If I try a manual installation, I can select and successfully load the
adaptec and megaraid modules, but the system still hangs, and I'm still
getting lots of scsi aborts.

In both cases the system is detecting 3 scsi disks rather than the 2
virtual disks it should see.

With suse 7.3 I could do a manual install, autoload the modules and then
I'd be able to use yast1 to install a running system. Suse 8.0 doesn't
appear to be able to do this.

Can anyone offer me any advice?

Thanks and regards,

Chris
