This is **my** experience: if (big IF) the kb overall is not responsive, but
at least I can do Ctlr-Alt-F1, then "ps -ax" allows me to kill the roguish
application, but if the freeze is such that *even* Ctrl-Alt-Del doesn't work
(I've had quite a few of those!), then the power button is the only escape.
