Greetings: Thanks to the help provided by Christopher M and others I was able to rebuild Yast2 DE version to International version by changing all the files in /var/adm/current_package_descr/ to the correct ones and updating to the Yast1/2 version to be found on the suse ftp server. This change corrected the missing ftp capability and it worked fine. However in using it I noticed the several package descriptions were incorrect resulting in a missing file error when using the ftp function. eg: ftp.suse.com perl-XML-RegExp-0.03-145.i386.rpm eg yast2 calls for perl-XML-RegExp-0.03-126.i386.rpm and many other examples..... While I am not sure on this I did use the DE CD on one occasion to install an application which brought up the usual warnings and I proceeded. Afterwards I replaced all the files again in /var/admin_current* but to no effect. So I have the following questions: 1. Where does Yasts maintain its package descriptions as /var/adm/current_package* does not appear to affect the overal file descriptions that Yast sources upon launching. 2. Where do I get the correct package descriptions so the Yast2 is in sync with the suse ftp server. In short I am getting far too intimate with Yast2 and any help would greatly be appreciated. Chris H.
