The not so good news is that SuSE 7.3 no longer shuts down at boot level 0. This is quite an interesting phenomenon that I would rather be without. I have gotten used to SuSE shutting down over the past couple of days .-( In the hopes someone will spot something in my lilo.conf file, I will post it again. THE question at this time is what the difference between booting my system off CD 1 and from LILO is. I believe that when booted from the CD, my system would still shutdown according to the parameters in the system (i.e. lilo.conf), right? So what is the different? Hope someone has a bright idea
You need acpi compiled into your kernal ( or as a module??) and the following in lilo config if your machine runs very very slowly "acpi=no-idle". In your case, just remove disableapic and insert the above ionstead, and re-run lilo. That should do it! Terence
