Any idea what could have caused this?

I've rarely used beyond disk5, and I do quite a complete installation.
I believe the source packages are on disks 6 and 7, which is why you probably wouldn't have.
If doubts, install it again. And when you've made your detailed package choices, save them to floppy so it's easy to restart install. This function WORKS now.
Am in the process now. Something I didn't notice before is that, after installing the base system from disk 1 and rebooting, the installer actually loses track at that point of what packages were to be installed -- the listed times for disks 5, 6, and 7 have zeroed. So now we see why it's not going past disk 4; we just can't figure out why it's losing track. The floppy save is a good idea -- I'll see if I can track down a floppy drive for the computer. :) -tara
