I did a fresh install of SuSE 8.0 on a Dell Latitude CPx today. The selected packages (including source packages) were spread across all seven disks. Near the end of package installation off disk 4, the installation of packages suddenly stopped, and the installer moved on to the "set root password" dialogue. There was no apparent error message, and looking in the installation log I didn't see an error message there either.
At this point, I have no way of knowing which packages were selected but not installed, or what ramifications this has. It's clear that not all packages from CD 4 were installed, because the computer is missing the wireless-tools package at least.
Any idea what could have caused this?

I've rarely used beyond disk5, and I do quite a complete installation. If doubts, install it again. And when you've made your detailed package choices, save them to floppy so it's easy to restart install. However, if a sheep stole a loaf of bread and gave it to you, you would only be tried for receiving, a crime punishable by forty lashes with the cat or the dog, whichever was handy. If you stole a dog and were caught, you were punished with twelve rabbit punches, although it was hard to find rabbits big enough or strong enough to punch you. -- Mike Harding, "The Armchair Anarchist's Almanac" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iEYEARECAAYFAjz/45AACgkQnQ18+PFcZJuH1QCbBzJ4tIafAwD4Z+15Mgcrq9n6 oNQAn3gPN4B+TCwHkX4GRsyq5yX6mxJg =M3E7 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
