PCMCIA wireless in 8.0 is fscked as you found out.  Check out
susefaq.sourceforge.net for my workarounds (which while they apply to
the Orinoco cards may still be useful for you).

If the prism2_cs.o the driver you were using in 7.3?  I think almost
very wireless card is set to use this driver in the 8.0 config.  I
changed mine to use the driver I was using before and it is working.
