Sounds like you haven't properly set up the outgoing and incoming mail
servers. With a dial-up modem, those should be SMTP servers, then dialog
for setting is something like this:
In Kmail, choose the menus: Settings - Configure Kmail - Network
Then you'll have tabs you can click on for "Sending" and "Receiving".
Start by clicking on "Sending," then "Add" (or "Modify" if you've set it
up previously), the box for "Name" can be any name you like - Doc will
do. "Host" is probably verizon.net (to judge from your Email address).
Save that, then click "Receiving", again "Name" can be Doc, "Login" is
your Email username (is it really "e.net"?), then "Host" once again is,
I'm guessing, verison.net. Save that, and you're ready to roll. I assume
you've got wvdial up and running, right?
Personally, I like Evolution much better than Kmail, but that's your
call.
