Having now installed staroffice 6 on a windows box in addition to the
linux computers I can now answer the question. Staroffice does include
a filter for Wordperfect, in the windows version of SO.

Doing a custom install on each system and selecting the import filters
to install; in linux the wordperfect selection is non-functional, in
windows it works.
