I have no modules include, i just make a config with the config file of the lowmem.i kernel from slack 8. and include the parport devices.

But thanks already! I guess nevertheless that Yu format Yr partitions with reiserf. If Yu got a coffeinefree kernel (just distro modularized kernel) this can occur, I wd advise Yu to install full src kernel from Yr distro, go to /usr/src/linux and make menuconfig, (change the reiserfs setting and others according to Yr needs) make bzImage, make modules, make modules_install, make install, make modules_install, cp arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/vmlinuz,
