I have a public folder called "public". User 1 is putting folders there to share but it seems that other users cannot have access to the newly created folder be user 1.
The smb.conf portion is defined as:
[Public]
path = /home/Public read only = No guest ok = Yes
The folder on the linux side of it gives rights for access for everyone. Any advice? and problems on the Samba or Linux side?
Two things: You can make it "guest only" or setup "directory mask"/"create mask" the guest only, means that this particular share will treat every client as a guest, meaning that all have the exact same settings, and on the Linux side, the files will all be owned by the same person. The directory/create mask, means that all files/directories created will reference these settings. (e.g. directory mask = 0770) Hope this helps! -- Travis.
