Hello SuSE kde3/python users,
I have succesfully upgraded on a SuSE 7.3 system all KDE3 files
to kde 3.0.1 (May 23 files on SuSE's update ftp server).
I got no dependency conflicts whatsoever except PyQt:
rpm -Fvh ./applications/PyQt-3.2.4-0.rpm
error: failed dependencies:
sip = 3.2.4 is needed by PyQt-3.2.4-0
libsip.so.9 is needed by PyQt-3.2.4-0
I've searched SuSE's ftp server and the net thoroughly, however
could not find sip (= package 'sip' from d3) version 3.2.4 (on
SuSE 7.3 it's 2.5-68).
Note that the order of rpm-ing was critical and sometimes it was
necessary to rpm -e (remove) an old package first. However, I never
had to resort to --nodeps and/or --force. I started with with
simulataneously rpm -Fvh'ing the base+devel kde3 and qt3 packages
first. That worked for me. However, I would be nice if SuSE would
put some hints about (the order of) the installation of kde3, instead
of just putting the all rpm's on their LinuKS site (which is much
appreciated, by the way!).
Thanx for any help! Bye-bye,
Eric
