8.0 installation freeze and Adaptec 7896 SCSI Controller?

I am having the same problem, but I know it has to do with an adaptec 7896 SCSI controller in my box. I have not been able to install anything later than 7.0. I've tried the aicxxx_old fix SUSE has told me to try and it is for nothing.

Same problem here. It happened as well for v6.4 & 7.1. But
at that time, I just switched to Yast & get installed. Any
suggestion ?
I bought 8.0 professionnal to install on
AsusP2B-D, 2xPentium II 266
Tekram 390 T SCSI controler...
