Brought my PC home from work to try and dubug some SuSE 8.0 setup bugs and am using a much lesser monitor.
Now I see triples of the display side by side, all of them in tiny resolution and almost unreadable.
Linux Failsafe presents the same defective video display.
Question: What is the best way to reset the video setting to generic VGA, please?
From your description it looks you are using default runlevel 5 (graphic login)
First thing, switch to text mode. Press Ctrl-Alt-F1 to get to virtual terminal 1. Login as root. Stop xdm. The easiest way should be changing run level to 3. To do this run "init 3" If you are going to use your bigger monitor later, save your X configuration. Run "cp /etc/X11/XF86Config /etc/X11/XF86Config.BIGMONITOR" Run sax2 and configure X for your smaller monitor. Switch system to run level 5 : "init 5" Switch to X virtual console, to do this press Ctrl-Alt-F7 Enjoy X on a smaller monitor. Regards, -Kastus
