I've just installed v8.0 on a newly formatted partition. The easiest install I've had in the six or seven years that I've been using Linux.
Two small, but rather annoying problems, however. If I put a new icon on the menu bar, it disappears if I happen to close KDE for some reason.
Run the online update. There is a bug...kde is not saving settings. After the update all should work fine.
My second problem is that I can't seem to download mail with an email client, I've tried both Evolution and Kmail. The connection is refused by my ISP. I can log onto mail.isp.com and get my mail that way, but the email clients don't work. It's not a connectivity problem as I can ping servers and get replies, yahoo for example.
I have used Kmail and Mozilla mail with no troubles from my Yahoo account. Nothing fancy to setup....I'm not sure what could be causing your trouble.
Thanks in advance for suggestions and solutions.
