I'm using Suse 8.0 Pro with a clean install and the 7 cd set. After yesterdays cry for help I got some information about a longstanding problem with Suse not seeing the cdrom drives properly when using a SCSI cdrom. (I have /dev/sr0 however yast2 won't recognize media from it, it's well documented at http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/yast2_pakete_installieren.html) Very frustrating. I can however mount all the cds fine under Windows, so I'm thinking I'll copy them all to a hard drive directory on an NTFS volume and point Yast2 to that. (Obviously, I dual boot) Is there a specific way that Yast2 will expect the directory setups, etc? I know each cd has the hidden .SuSExxxxxxxxxxxxx file and I've copied that to my /var/adm/current_package_descr/ Are there other things I need to keep in mind? I'm kicking myself for not order the DVD set instead ...
