In SuSE 8.0 on a stand-alone PC, I'm trying to configure a parallel port-connected HP LaserJet 1200 using the "LaserJet 1200, Foomatic+Postscript" driver in CUPS, but am finding a) that with the default setting, an additional page is automatically taken up, drawn through the printer and ejected blank, b) with the resolution adjusted to 1200dpi, the same thing occurs, and c) that with the resolution adjusted to 1200dpi and GhostScript pre-filtering set to "convert to Level 2", while the extra sheet isn't taken up etc. as before, line-like artefacts are introduced into printed output, and in the case of some fonts reproduced smaller than 18 points the top of each row of text becomes slightly cropped. These affects occur both with the YaST test page and also more generally. Adjusting the driver's tray setting makes no difference. Any ideas? (Other than configuring it as a generic PostScript device, which would make it impossible to adjust the REt and FastRes settings.) Thanks in advance, Michael
