The C80 must use its own driver as it is the first Epson to include separate
print cartridges and it is not compatible with any of the older drivers (this
is at least according to Epson when I talked to them on the phone regarding a
problem printing to the C80 from Windows XP).
And as I mentioned, I have been using CUPS and GimpPrint at least since 7.1
with SuSE, and before that on Mandrake. I have never had any problems except
that under SuSE it is somewhat difficult to get rid of the LP system it
installs because it insists on reinstalling it on a regular basis when I am
in adding new software. This usually kills my lpr commands that are
associated with Cups.
Other than that I don't think I have ever had a segmentation fault while
printing under CUPS, or for that matter much of any printing system.
