Dear List,
KMail on SuSE 8.0 is eating my email! When I open KMail, it displays a line per email that is in my in-box; the line lists "Subject" "Sender" etc. But when I click on a line it changes to "No Subject" and the content window below is empty!! I don't want to loose valuable emails; what can I do?
Can anyone help me with this problem? Is there another more reliable email client?
The same thing happened to me. KMail didn't actually delete anything, but just got confused enough to not be able to display the mail. I assumed it was because I had some fairly large mail folders. My solution was to not use KMail. I was just experimenting with it to see if I wanted to switch from mutt. Needless to say, I am sticking with mutt. As another poster has suggested, I think it worth the try to delete all the hidden files in your mail directory. These are the index files and, if I remember, some files with "sorted" in the name. Look in the directory with the following command: cd ~/Mail ls -la If things look as expected, delete the hidden ("dot") files: cd ~/Mail rm .* If you have sub-folders in the Mail directory do this: cd ~/Mail rm -rf .* Before doing either of the above "rm" commands, play it safe by doing this: cd ~ cp -ax Mail Mail-save -- Robert C.
