Hi all,
I have a problem that I can't understand, Linux newbie that I am... My system is a Dual Celeron (SMP) system behind a KVM-switch. 128MB RAM on an ABit BP6 motherboard, Riva graphics and SuSE 8.0 Personal.
Once in a while the system just hangs, as in Reset time. Desktop is froze on a screensaver. Can't kill X, can't ping from another box, can't do anything but reset it.
Looking in /etc/messages I see nothing that looks odd, and no other logfile seems to contain anything useful. The only strange thing is a lot of APIC errors happening almost every third minute or so, but I've read in the FAQ that I shouldn't worry about that ?
Only thing running, apart from SuSE itself, is Apache 2.0.36, and I can't find any errors in the logfiles there either.
Any hints as to where I should start investigating is most appreciated.
If a computer is rebooting/hanging with itself, means HARDWARE problem, check the temperature, hard disk data cables, etc. Check the fans, open the case and work with the computer, check the temperature, put a home fans (I don't know to say in english) near to the computer and test it. -- www.geekcode.com -----BEGIN GEEK CODE BLOCK----- Version: 3.1 GCS/cc/e/it d++ s+:+ a-- C++$ UL+++$ E++ W+++$ w--- O---- M V- PS PE+++ Y+ PGP- t+ 5 X++ R tv+ b++ DI-- D+ G e++$ h! r++ y++ ------END GEEK CODE BLOCK------ - A veces creo que hay vida en otros planetas, y a veces creo que no.
