Ive got adsl working with my speedtouch usb, its fairly straightforward, once you actually see it working, its just the number of variables that can change that cause problems. I have a script I run which connects me, i've attached it to this email. If running this as root doesn't get you connected, mail me off-list and ill talk you through the steps. obviously you'll need to edit the script to point it at modem_run and mgmt.o. have you configured ppp for adsl yet? If not, that needs a couple of simple steps, the tricky bit is getting the modem itself up and running. Ewan On Sun, 2002-05-19 at 23:22, gerry gavigan wrote:
ADSL, Speedtouch - where I have got to
(has anyone thought about writing a SuSE HOWTO - I understand that originally ADSL with Alcatel was going to work "out of the box")
kpackage'd the latest sourceforge release code in RPM, installed two useless shell scripts intended for a Mandrake distro into etc/init.d/rc5.d (alas, both get called before usb gets set up by SuSE, and they're a bit advanced for me)
Also they appear to start before SuSE has set up the USB and refer to directories that don't exist on SuSE, I have been advised that these files should be placed in rc3.d
