Just noticed that I need to plug/unplug my USB mouse to start it working after a reboot. This is on SuSE 8.0 with all YOU updates as of yesterday PM. This didn't happen when I first installed 8.0 a couple of weeks ago, The only suspicious thing I did just recently was update the kernel modules with YOU. Here is the results of lsmod *after* re-plugging the mouse: =========================================================================== Module Size Used by Tainted: PF soundcore 3268 0 (autoclean) hid 17824 0 (unused) mga 100464 9 agpgart 29664 3 (autoclean) vmnet 17824 1 vmppuser 6432 0 (unused) parport_pc 25448 0 parport 21856 0 [vmppuser parport_pc] vmmon 19700 0 (unused) ipv6 123424 -1 (autoclean) isa-pnp 27816 0 (unused) mousedev 3872 1 joydev 5728 0 (unused) evdev 3904 0 (unused) input 3072 0 [hid mousedev joydev evdev] st 25844 0 (autoclean) sg 23620 0 (autoclean) usb-uhci 20996 0 (unused) usbcore 55136 1 [hid usb-uhci] 8139too 13504 1 mii 1040 0 [8139too] lvm-mod 58016 0 (autoclean) ext3 60160 2 jbd 42196 2 [ext3] aic7xxx 105824 6 =========================================================================== Before re-plugging the mouse (right after a warm boot) the module "hid" is missing (although mousedev is there). This is on an EPoX 8K3A motherboard (VIA VT8233A chipset) with built-in USB support. I don't think it's a loose connection since once the mouse is working, I can wiggle the connector without breaking the connection. /etc/boot.msg shows: =========================================================================== Starting hotplugging services [<notice>'/etc/init.d/rc5.d/S06syslog start' exits with status 0 <notice>/etc/init.d/rc5.d/S07hotplug start net pci usb ] done <notice>'/etc/init.d/rc5.d/S07hotplug start' exits with status 0 =========================================================================== -- Robert C.
