(sorry for the repost but this is a very important issue here - any help greatly appreciated!) Hello All, I've got an older SuSE distro - 7.0. I've got a large disk on there (80 GB) that I'm using as a backup volume (it is a Western Digital WDD80, I believe). Problem is, is seems to like to go to sleep (spin down) after non-use. Not the best behavior for a server. Can I adjust drive sleep parameters through SuSE as I can on the Mac and PC side? Also, unrelated, I woke up this am and seems that my server has gone deaf - cannot ping it, it cannot ping its own ip address, though it can ping localhost. eth0 is set up in yast (it was working fine). Its possible that the net card has gone belly-up. Is there a diagnostic routine in SuSE that will help me make that determination? Best, Peter D Bethke
