This sounds like a different type of problem than what I'm having. It sounds like your X server is dying off or something. If that is the problem, try running "SaX2" from the console and reconfiguring it from there. Or, If it dies after a period of time, try changing your APM (power management) settings, sometimes this can cause problems.

Yes. I have had severe problems when Yast is writing to the SuSEConfig-file after installation of packages. Three times I have had the screen freeze. Every time I had to force a reboot and everytime I was then no longer able to get into KDE. Since I didn't know what else to do, I reinstalled SuSE every time.
It is probably my screen-settings that are to blame, though. I have had lots of other frozen screens with other apps than Yast (Konqueror etc.). The fault is probably my own, and I should probably change my screen-settings, but I
would sure like to do, the next time I'm dumped at the konsole and am unable to run KDE.
