Yes, that's what I have to do now to get it working.
as for /etc/rc.config
it can be done with it, you need to set IPADDR_1="192.168.1.4" and NETDEV_1="eth0:0" and IFCONFIG_1="192.168.1.4 broadcast 192.168.1.255 netmask 255.255.255.0 up"
No, that doesn't work for me. I have tried every combination of entries that I would suspect *could* work, but to no avail. It seems to me ip-aliasing is not possible in SuSE Linux 7.3 through /etc/rc.config. Of course, I run SuSEconfig after changes to this file, and restart the network.
Try editing NETCONFIG="_0 _1" That works for me... though I prefer to use eth0:1 as the second IP interface :-) These are automatically established when you use yast or yast2 to define the second ethernet interface. With 8.0 using a different method for configuration, using yast2 is the preferred option if you don't know exactly what you're doing. :-) -- /"\ Bernd Felsche - Innovative Reckoning, Perth, Western Australia \ / ASCII ribbon campaign | I'm a .signature virus!
