i posted a similar question about a week ago and found this solution: i have changed my framebuffer graphics by editing /usr/share/splash/bootsplash-1024x768.jpg (or whatever resolution your text mode runs at, it will be sim-linked) and the cooresponding bootsplash-1024x768.cfg in the same dir. after editing each of these, i simply run: # mk_initrd # lilo (only because it's suggested... i haven't tried this w/o running lilo). works like a charm ;) hope this helps. I used to get it to work on 7.3 by using
# mk_initrd -k "vmlinuz-2.4.18-4GB" -i "initrd-2.4.18-4GB" -s auto # lilo
I think the -s auto is the bit that does the splash.

If read all the posts on how to get the Bootsplash working. Well, none has helped. I have it installed (8.0) and loaded. Still all I get is the little penguin on the top left. I can only assume that I don't have my framebuffer setup.
Can someone shed some light on this? I just managed to the the penguin working last night. I'm a bit hesitant to play with the framebuffer setup.
I know this is not the most critical thing on this group, but anyone's 2-cents would be appreciated.
