I am a windows user that had great hopes of becoming a Linux only user .. the only issue that kept me with windows was my dvdram drive .. I use this method for backup .. I saw a press release about a patnership between suse and panasonic .. it stated that suse would support panasonic dvdram drives .. I had a creative dvdram drive at the time .. I spent over 500 dollars getting a panasonic dvdram drive and suse professional version 7.2 .. I could not get my drive to work with suse .. I searched all my manuals and your web site and found nothing .. I finally got a response from your support .. it told me how to reconfigure the kernel to turn udf filesystem on .. I did but it only produced errors when I tried to write to the drive ... I went back to windows .. hope at last .. your 8.0 release promised "Now DVDs can be written (on the command line)" this line was taken from your web site and the professional box cover which I purchased from CompUSA a week ago .. I saw all types of directories "cdrecorder1, cdrecorder2, dvd" but my dvdram drive would not mount .. I saw a package called dvdrtools ... I looked thru your manuals and found not one reference to dvd/r recording .. I searched your web knowledge base and found nothing ... I am through with linux especially suse .. if you ever intend to get more windows users to switch to linux .. you must deliver what you promise in your ads .. linux may be a more stable system but while windows is running I can use my dvdram drive ... give us instructions on how to get the dvd drive working .. if not total instructions .. point us to the directory where the instructions are kept .. I am aware that manufacturers don't supply linux drivers with my drive but they do supply drivers plus instructions on its operation with windows .. if you supply me with drivers .. you should also supply me with instructions .. I got on the mailing list of suse users .. you should read them .. you will see that many users are upset with dvd writers that they can't get working .. I know the techies are excited about looking for solutions but they are in the minority .. the bulk of users are windows users wanting to see if all this hype about linux is true .. please give them a reason to switch other than stability .. registered user of 6.2, 7.0, 7.2, 8.0
