Oops, I've just accidentally deleted some files on a fat32 partition (from within linux) and I need to get them back.
Anyone know any free software (either linux of windows) that can help me? If not, any idea how to do it by hand?
What have I done!!!
You've just discovered the importance of backups... Sorry to be obnoxious. In general, I feel no pitty for people loosing data and not having any backup system. About your problem: how about a little googling, e.g.: http://www.google.com/search?q=undelete%20fat32 The first hit points to a free demo version under Windows. Only limitation: file must be smaller than 64kB. But google shows much more hits. There's bound to be a solution for you. I can't help you any further: I hardly use FAT32. And as you may have guessed: I "undelete" my files using a backup (yes, it _does_ happen). Paul.
