I waited 15 minutes once with no response lol. Had a shower while it was booting. I normally don't reboot very often, but since I noticed this I have been doing it to test it.
Thats certainly too long!
I'll try and let it go for as long as it possibly takes, but a fix is what's important to me.
Needs more testing, like what do you have attached to the computer hardware wise, both internally and externally? The USB mouse issue was fixed in my case buy taking it off of the USB hub and plugging directly into the PC itself, weird but it worked. Matt
thanks

This happens to me on my laptop, but it actually finishes booting if you just sit there 2 full minutes. Be patient! I think mine is hanging because it doesn't like the internal Sony modem, but I dunno. I've just lived with it so far since I don't reboot too often. I'd love a fix for this too.

I seem to be having a problem on boot up with 8.0. The system hangs at the point in the boot process that it says "Starting Hardware Scan on Boot"...it just sits there and doesn't get any farther. The system is still responsive and I can ctrl-alt-del to reboot. After 3 or 4 retries it will get past this to finish off the boot process. This options comes right after the "Starting HotPlugging Services [net pci usb]" portion of the boot process.
Any insight would be appreciated, since I've never seen this problem b4 with any other kernel's or OS versions.
TIA
