Hello All, I've had endless fun upgrading to 8.0 from 7.1 (bad upgrade leading to boot that just restarts the machine, routing that can't find the only other machine on a network etc.) but I'm stumped by this one...
telnet 192.168.1.2 doesn't display a login prompt but gives "connection to host lost" both on the host machine and from the remote machine. Same with telnet 127.0.0.1 on the host machine.
inetd is running. /etc/services looks ok, inetd.conf looks ok, telnet is shown as active by yast2
Any ideas? Bill
Ahh - what a fool - fancy expecting a new version to install the same software ;-) plenty of inetd but no in.telnetd. Bill
