Network won't start after reboot on SuSE8.0
Hello SuSE folkz,
Network won't start after reboot on SuSE8.0
I've tested this issue on three different boxes.
Thanks God I didn't install this distro on our production equipment.

During installation I've configured eth0 and eth1 with Yast2
They started normally:

Setting up loopback interface
done
Setting up network interfaces:

lo
done

eth0
done

eth1
done

When I shut down this server and brought it back
network was unreachable and I found these
warnings in /var/log/boot.msg:

Setting up loopback interface
Starting SuSEconfig the SuSE Configuration tool
Unknown parameter lo
Usage: SuSEconfig
[--quick|--nonewpackage|--force|--verbose\--module name]

failed
Unknown parameter start

Failed service in run level 5 network

After three hours crawling through SuSEconfig scripts I was in the same
condition dry and high.

I resembled the same situation on other two boxes with single NICs.
I didn't install anything other than default SuSE configuration.
Upon reboot, network on these two boxes was dead with the same
warnings as on the first box.

After spending more than 16 hours troubleshooting this issue I can say that
it's a major configuration flow in the SuSE8.0 besides printer configuration.

SuSE has gone too far with their freaking improvements removing YAST1 and
making things more complicated than ever.
How much crack did they smoke before releasing this distro?

Could somebody tell me please how to solve this issue or I should just drop
this crap and switch completely to LFS.

Thank you.
Alex
