Hello,
In our Eng. Dept. we strongly need these YAST1 features mentioned
below. 
With SuSE 8.0 we don't have the same level of control over the system
as we had in its earlier versions 7.3/7.2 and so on. 
That is why we suspended upgrades from SuSE 7.2/7.3 to 8.0 utill this
issue is resolved or we find another way around. 
If not, we'll be forced to find another distro, may be less flashy
than SuSE but with more control over the system.
SuSE folkz, when you create your new releases, please bear in mind
that there are not only corporate dorks, sales-drones and M$ infected
home users using your distro, but also engineers and programmers.
If you tilt your software development only towards to graphical
interfaces with mere functionality you'll loose significant portion of
your supporters and admirers.
