That's not right either. After many more crashes, I reinstalled from
scratch using "safe settings," and had no problem with the "nv" driver. I
was never asked whether to calculate modelines.
Now my only obvious problem is no sound, and again I am chapped that it
worked fine when I installed Red Hat 7.2 .
