My impressions on 8 so far:
The installation program wanted to write over my two FAT32 partitions, otherwise went well.
Support could not answer my simple question as to if my particular modem is supported. From what I've read some winmodems are and some arn't, but dont ask support. They have no clue.

I think this varies.
Once, a long time ago, I tried the SuSE support. I didn't really have a question, I just made up something plausibly "newbie-like" just to see what sort of response there was, and I got a fairly quick result.
But as with most things I can imagine this depends on who you're in contact with. YMMV, as they say.
Friend, the note you quoted had me contacting FOUR different entities and none could tell me my modem was: A. not supported in the shipped code B. not covered in their support contract I do wish SuSE well. From what I've seen the are a neat little company with their head on straight and I hope this is just a growing pain. Heck, perhaps their overwhelmed by terrific sales. I am willing to give some slack based on how cool so many other aspects are. Just hosting these lists and the fact that their employees participate in same is much more than most other companies do. So overall a "B" grade on support from me. (:-{)} Cheers, Bill
