Hi Art,
I'm still using SuSE 7.1 so I'm not sure about 8.0. As far as I can remember
(when I initially mucked around with ppp diallers) kinternet is a wrapper
around wvdial or uses the same config file.
Therefore have you tried setting up wvdial and seeing if that works.
I tried kinternet but found it was not as good as kppp. Have you tried using
kppp?
