Hi Tor
Well I have tried both with no luck; FDISK /MBR using a newly generated WinME boot disk produced the same outcome. I think the original MBR has been superseded several times with my re-installing SuSE to try and get the mouse working. So don't know where to go from here, but at least I can get into WinME with a Diskette, so what the hell if I can get Linux working properly. But it would be nice to get this booting fixed.
Secondly I managed to edit /etc/X11/XF8Config, somewhat difficult without a mouse and not knowing the keyboard commands, but following the restart of X I was presented with a text login screen as apposed to the GUI. This is where I call for help not knowing enough about Linux.
Where can I find a list of commands, DIR and CD seem universal but what of COPY and MKDIR (haven't tried this one)?
copy is cp mkdir is mkdir dir is ls you can always get into a text screen by pressing ctrl-alt-1 or 2 or 3 you reboot from a textsession/shell by typing reboot or shutdown dids
