Ok.....I put all my fonts in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF and ran SuSEconfig. This, of course, USED to make all of them available, now it doesn't! Anyone know how to get 8.0 to use them?
1. If you are running a font server then look in: /etc/X11/fs/config Look for the path /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF add if necessary. Now run: # cd /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF # mkfontdir And restart the font server. Rebooting will definitely restart the font server or as root you could run: /etc/rc.d/xfs restart 2. If you are not running a font server (likely) then look in: /etc/X11/XF86Config Look for the path and add if neccesary in the Files section. Section "Files" FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi:unscaled" FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/local" FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc:unscaled" FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi:unscaled" FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF" EndSection Now run: # cd /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TTF # mkfontdir I think that this step would be handled by SuSEConfig, but I'm not sure. And now restart X. If you haven't specifically changed to use a font server, I suspect that you are probably using the second method.
