My previous message suggested I had found the problem, well it was not the fix. I am still unable to do the installation from the hard drive if I select "Update current Installation" It loads the installation program , I can go through the first couple of menus until it searchs for an existing system. Control + F9 gives the following errors ( note error message may not be exactly the same, I may have written it doen wrong, but close enough to give you an idea what is happenning) 0 chell command '/bin/mount -t ext3 /dev/hda11 /mnt/hda11 2 > /var/log/y2logmount <3> linux(464)[YCP] clients/inst-rootpart.ycp:294 mounting /dev/hda11 on /mnt/hda11 failed If I use the installation cd everything seems to work through this point and shows me the root system I am currently using as well as a root system on hda11 ( my partition where the installation cds were copied using the command (cd /cdrom && tar cf - .) | (cd /hda11/suse8.0 && tar xvfp -) and further advice will be sincerely appreciated I suspect the problem is the installation already mounted /dev/hda11 and now wantes to mount it again to sear for a root file system. However, I can't find any way to type in where the root files system is that I want the installation program to update. joe
