{SuSE 7.3, XF86 4.2, GeForce2 MX, NVIDIA 2880 drivers (installed from tar.gz files) } I have not been able to get sax2 to use 1600 x 1200 resolution w/ my 21" monitor. I can pick this resolution during the configuration but every time I test X or start KDE, the max resolution I get is 1280 x 1024. I tried re-running sax2 several times w/ no luck. I once had to re-install the 2880 drivers because it couldn't load glx for some reason. (But KDE started fine after this). Anyway, here's where I think I screwed up. While trying to get the 1600 x 1200 res., I once turned off "Calculate Mode Lines" and turned on framebuffering. This gave me 1600 x 1200. However, when I started KDE, the machine locked up totally - no mouse, no keyboard. I could only do a hard reset. After several tries, I went back to sax2 and turned on "Calculate Mode Lines", and turned off framebuffer (went back to "Check Monitor Geometry" - I think that's what is was called). The problem did not go away. I checked XF86Config and it is correct. I "startx" , get the nvidia splash screen, and KDE starts coming up. It continues past the KDE splash screen startup routine, throws up my background, and then as soon as it starts to put up desktop icons, everything freezes solid. What have I done?! Have I somehow hosed X or KDE? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
