I've just acquired an Epson Perfection 1650 Photo USB scanner and I'd like to use it with SuSE 7.3 YaST2 doesn't list the 1650 as a supported scanner, but the SANE webpage says that it's supported. I followed the instructions for using ImageScan for Linux on the EPSON KOWA websitehttp://www.epkowa.co.jp/english/linux_e/linux.html and it seems to be working until I press the "Scan" button, at which point I get an error stating: Could not send command to scanner". If I use xsane, I get a message stating: "xsane: no devices available".
Thanks to everyone who replied to my plea. But rather than trying to get SANE to work - one cannot ignore the irony of that acronym - I opted instead to use Hamrick software's Vuescan package http://www.hamrick.com. Like Tony says, It's GRRRRREAT! If you're having trouble getting your scanner to work, check it out. -- JAY VOLLMER JVOLLMER1@MN.RR.COM TEXT REFS DOUBLEPLUSUNGOOD SELFTHINK VERGING CRIMETHINK IGNORE FULLWISE
