I am running a SuSE Linux fileserver and while I can access the shared folder from my Win2K machine, I cannot get into it from the Win98SE boxes. It shows the server, but when I select it from the list it asks for the password. But the prompt asks for the password to access \\fileserver\ipc$ and I am not sure what the ipc$ stands for. I have logged onto the Win98 system with the username and password of a user setup on the file server, but it still prompts for this.
TIA
Greg
I assume you are using samba. You must modify the registry in your Win98 machines to include "EnablePlainTextPassword = 1". Regards. - -- Alfredo J.
