**Microsoft has issued a class suit,
um, I don['t htink they can have a "class action " suit w/ only one
plaintif .. THat's reserved , IIRC fFor many small ( No money to fight
a big company )plaintifs who get lumped together if the attorney is good
enough to get the several folks he has declared by a court to be a
"class" There must be several simularities in the cases also.
HOwever, they can sue multiple defendants And goodness KNows MS has
enough cash to sue every one in this country twice over. My suspician is
, they want o get a judgement agains ANY One of the chip makers, and use
the sledgehammer threat of doing it to all of them ,once it has scared
some into signing some dort of paper that lets MS go thru their books
and also btw pay more money as a punishemnt for not falling in line
immediately! THen everyone else falls into line.
Our problem still is, the boot loader. They wont let anyone other than
a MS os show on it I Hence the proliferation of other boot loaders, boot
manglers etc. And one other teansy thing, Manufacturers need to see
tehy can make a living w/o the latest Windows lisence .... Since that is
the threat they are under, that and the fact that MS uses the sledge
hammer of raising the price of the older version sky high... ( but they
could probably pass at least part of that onto any system that wanted ..)
Somehow we need to get to the folks that are still suing MS and make
them understand that the boot loader is a real Monopolistic practise,
and is being used for the detriment of the people.
<sigh>
Just my $.02 ( gold , not any of that funny play money stuff <VBG> )
