I too am experiencing machine freezups with SuSE 7.3. I am running an AMD-K6-233 machine with 98 mb of memory and a 13 gb hard drive. I'm trying to run the native amateur radio suite of applications for my TCPIP gateway. When I run the ham stuff up, it usually ends up running quite nicely for 30-45 minutes, and sometimes up to several hours... but eventually the machine completely locks up and I have to reboot. I am running LinuxNode, AX25D, AX25IPD, Linux FBB, NETROMD, etc. I have been told that I should upgrade to the latest kernel, (2.4.19 I think it was..) as there might be some bug fixes in it which would possibly help my freezup problem. I tried downloading that from SuSE's FTP site and it installed ok.. However, when I rebooted the machine, problems began. I am running reiserfs here and there was a complaint that the modules for reiserfs were not found, and then my machine went into a kernel panic and locked up completely. Soooo, I got rid of the new kernel and put the stock SuSE distribution back on and have been putting up with the lockups ever since. This is very frustrating, indeed! It is hoped that someone can provide some constructive suggestions as to how I can overcome these problems. Additionally, I do not think that SuSE has the most current amateur radio applications on their distribution disks. I know for a fact that NETROMD, AX25D, and possibly AX25IPD had several major patches or bug fixes in the not so recent future, however it does not appear as if they made it to the SuSE 7.2 or SuSE 7.3 distribution disks. SuSE, please take note. Thanks! 73, Gary, W7NTF
