Using MySQL Navigator to connect to mysql sample database, I get Access denied for user: afore@localhost (using passowrd: YES). I get the same for user mysql and root using both my password and root password. mysql is a group as shown in Yast2 login manager also. Permissions now shows drwxr-xr-x mysql mysql. I and root are shown as users in the mysql group. Have you just installed it from scratch? How are you trying to start it / getting it to work? More info please! The correct way to install MySQL for 7.3 can be found in ./usr/share/doc/packages/mysql. Jethro On Monday 18 March 2002 11:22, Art Fore wrote:
Does anyone know of a howto for getting mysql to work with suse 7.3? I have tried the mysql website and documentation, but nothing seems to work. It keep looking for a mysql.sock file to connect, it was there, then dissapeared.
