I want to uninstall an rpm package. The original package is in my home directory. In that directory, after becoming superuser, I enter rpm -e <the rpm package> only to be told that that package is not installed! Just to make sure it is installed, I do rpm -U <rpm package name> and am told that it is already installed!
Did Franz Kafka write the rpm program?
What now?
Thanks

The name of the package is not necessarily the name of the rpm file. If you are not sure of the *exact* name of the package, use rpm -qa | grep <part-of-the-name> to find the exact name of the package. Then, use rpm -e <package> Regards, Keith -- LPIC-2, MCSE, N+ wielder of vi(m), an ancient, dangerous and powerful magic free your mind, and your OS will follow
