For graphics it IS possible to do auto detection... Try 'sax2 -a' You could guess where the '-a' stands for ;-) But it would indeed be nice to have a script for autodetect hardware. I'm working on an auto install of SuSE we need at our company, and I've created a small script to extract network card info from 'hwinfo'. But a complete script which covers it all would be very nice! Regards Harry

Redhat does have an automatic detection script for hardware, any possibility of having something like this in SuSE? Lets say I change my graphics card, would it be possible for sax2 to appear?
Sounds like Windows. Wizards -I hate them. We don't want to emulate Redmond.
Kudzu is severely brain-damaged.
What's really fun is when you have a headless server and it won't come up because it's asking questions on the console. Then you have to find a KVM and hook it up before your server will actually run.
I like autodetection, but only at my request. Maybe an email to root upon detection would be a better idea.
