For about 3.95 at cheapbytes they can get SuSE Linux FTP Install CD's created so they try it for low-cost.
If folks payed enough attention they could get it off usenet also. At least a link.
This should be affordable even for shit ass broke people or least i hope.
I agree with ya. But I hate to hear so much anger. Suse is supposed to be fun. Not angry.
No ISO issue complaint that pop-us every couple of month's. It's not that i do not understand some can not afford to spend 70$ on distro is just they have never made isos's for last couple version so all this hoop-la about it not going make big difference do them. Bandwith cost money and iso for download would probably triple their bandiwth usage.
I don't buy this. Look at all the patches and other distro's floating around. If your saying that suse would be that popular then it would only help. but it ain't going to kill bandwidth, we aren't on fidonet anymore. Ever hear of a Mirror? Sure downloading from ftp.suse.com would cost. But what about some.really.fast.as.or.iseries.server.be ? Does that cost em anything? How much? What if I put a server up? How much would that cost suse for bandwidth? So basically, if you don't like this situation why not put up your own server? Or can you? Have you asked if it's "LEGAL" to put up suse iso's? I think I heard something about this before but I don't remember what the answer was now. Seems to me you could spread suse like wildfire, but I dunno. I ain't a lawyer, and I think that you should probably ask this question if your really this concerned about it and feel like taking some kind of action, but at least prepare yourself.
Consider how many gigs of bandiwth they use a day then consider the iso issue you may have the reason why they do not offer them. Bandwith cost money, development cost money etc...
I really don't mean to throw a monkey wrench into the spokes on your but... Why does mandrake get mirrored on so many servers? And... how much is it costing to have it mirrored? or is it..... in the long run? If I am wrong about these ideas, then I am wrong. I really don't know the answer, but I have an interesting way of helping folks figure out the answers to problems sometimes, if you analyze what I am asking. that's my current intent. and well also to hopefully defuse any anger that may be lingering. were supposed to have fun now. come on. phil -- Leave the Constitution Alone. http://members.osb.net/phil
