What kernel patches I need

I have a problem with my kernel. I have a new kernel 2.4.17 from
kernel.org but I have no idea what patches to apply to my new kernel and
in what order for being able to boot with the splash screen !
Any idea from where to download that patches ? A step by step will be beautiful
